Heidelberg Medical, Inc. ("Heidelberg Medical," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit heidelbergmed.com (the "Site").

This Site is intended for healthcare professionals, researchers, and industry. It is operated separately from our patient site, heidelbergtest.com, which has its own privacy policy.

Information we collect

Information you provide. When you contact us, request a demonstration, or otherwise communicate through the Site, we may collect your name, professional or organizational affiliation, email address, telephone number, and the content of your message.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect information about your device and how you interact with the Site, including your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring pages, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits.

Cookies and similar technologies. The Site uses cookies that are necessary for it to function and analytics cookies that help us understand how the Site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the Site works.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

  • respond to your inquiries and provide the information, demonstrations, or materials you request;
  • operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site;
  • communicate with you about our products and services where permitted;
  • understand and analyze how the Site is used; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

  • With service providers that perform functions on our behalf, such as website hosting (provided by Webflow), form processing, email delivery, and analytics, and that are obligated to protect the information.
  • For legal and safety reasons, where required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
  • In a business transfer, in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.

Protected health information and HIPAA

In connection with the Heidelberg pH Capsule System, Heidelberg Medical may receive, maintain, or transmit protected health information ("PHI") on behalf of healthcare providers and other covered entities. To the extent we act as a business associate under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and its implementing regulations ("HIPAA"), we handle PHI in accordance with HIPAA's Privacy and Security Rules and the terms of the applicable Business Associate Agreement.

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of PHI, and we limit our use and disclosure of PHI to the purposes permitted by HIPAA and by our agreements with the relevant covered entities. Where we engage service providers to process information that may include PHI, we require them to maintain appropriate safeguards and, where applicable, to enter into Business Associate Agreements with us.

This Site is not intended to collect protected health information from the public. Please do not submit personal health information through the Site's contact or inquiry forms. If you are a patient, please visit heidelbergtest.com or speak with your healthcare provider.

Third-party links

The Site may link to third-party websites, including heidelbergtest.com and external resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; please review their policies separately.

Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Protected health information is retained and disposed of in accordance with HIPAA and our agreements with the relevant covered entities.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information and protected health information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your information, and to object to processing or request a copy of your data. Requests concerning protected health information held on behalf of a healthcare provider are handled through that provider in accordance with HIPAA.

For residents of the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom (GDPR). You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal bases for processing include your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site and responding to inquiries, and compliance with our legal obligations.

For California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use and disclose it, the right to request deletion or correction, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. Information governed by HIPAA is exempt from the CCPA.

We are based in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Children's privacy
